Legislative Committee Mission Statement:
The Legislative Committee’s mission is to gather information on legislative issues and communicate
this information to all fellow clerks and treasurers.
The committee will utilize the VMCTA list serve and surveys for means of communication. In the case
of urgent opinions being needed, a county telephone tree will be initiated by the committee.
During the legislative session, in so much as possible, weekly updates will be sent to VMCTA
members. The legislative committee chair will check the legislative website daily and report findings to
the committee and contact our VLCT representative.
Any decisions made by the committee will be based on a majority opinion of results received. We
encourage open respectful opinions.
Requests for proposed legislation shall be submitted to the committee members by January 1st of
each year. A survey will be sent by the committee to the membership to establish the priority level.
