Welcome to Vermont Municipal Clerks' and Treasurers' Association
CELEBRATING 90 YEARS!
1936-2026
Founded in 1935, the Vermont Municipal Clerks' and Treasurers' Association is a professional association. With 570 members, VMCTA welcomes everyone interested in the offices of municipal Clerk and Treasurer. Whether you’re in the thick of the profession, retired, or considering a career in municipal service, VMCTA offers a community that provides information, education, mentoring, fellowship, advocacy, and inspiration.
Formal education is offered at VMCTA’s Annual Conference held each fall and annual Spring Training. Offerings address the hard skills of the work—election management, managing cash flow, open meeting law, land records recording, property tax billing and collection—as well as tools for the care and feeding of the people doing the work. Professional development is celebrated, and members can earn prestigious professional certifications through training provided by VMCTA as well as regional, national, and international partners.
VMCTA’s Legislative Committee advocates for clerks and treasurers at the State House in Montpelier. Committee members have established a positive reputation and excellent working relationships with legislators, ensuring that the ideas and concerns of clerks and treasurers are not only heard, they are also sought out.
The “Clerk Listserv” is an invaluable resource for VMCTA members. Members use the listserv to share knowledge, challenges and solutions, and humor.
Camaraderie sparked by VMCTA membership creates a robust professional network, establishes mentorships, and creates friendships. Don’t miss out! Join us today.
